Polypropylene strap

Packline offers a range of polypropylene strapping suitable for transport and storage industries. We use polypropylene (PP), a popular choice for securing packages and pallets, due to their durable and versatile properties.

Composition and Characteristics of Polypropylene

Polypropylene is a type of thermoplastic polymer resin that has been commercially produced since 1957. Its versatility makes it ideal for everyday domestic and commercial use.

Compared to other plastics, polypropylene has a high melting point of 160 degrees Celsius. It also has a high resistance to some chemicals and substances like dilute acids and alkalis, oils, grease and alcohol. It does not absorb water and does not decompose in the presence of fungi and bacteria.

Another property that makes polypropylene a better alternative over other plastics is that it does not contain bisphenol A or BPA. Found in some plastics and epoxy resins, BPA is unsafe for food packaging, as it has been shown to seep into food products. Consumption of BPA has been linked to adverse health effects on the brain and the behaviour of infants and children.

Uses and Advantages of Polypropylene

Polypropylene has a variety of uses across different industries all over the world. It has been reported that the global market for this material totals to 45.1 million tonnes in industries including carpeting, technology, paper and toy manufacturing and laboratories.

Polypropylene also has low electrical conductivity that makes it useful for packaging and manufacturing electronic products. Its high puncture resistance is ideal for film extrusion used in packaging and manufacturing food and clothing.

When blow moulded, it becomes a material to produce bottles and packaging for detergents, cooking oil and other food products and toiletries. Polypropylene is also used in the production of automobile parts like bumpers, cladding and exterior trims.

Packline's DURA-GRIP Polypropylene Strapping

Among our range of polypropylene packaging solutions is the DURA-GRIP polypropylene strapping. It is a heavy band strapping with high-retained tension ideal for bundling boxes, paper and other materials. Despite its heavy-duty capabilities, DURA-GRIP is lightweight and weighs up to 50% less than steel strapping.

Apart from being BPA-free, our polypropylene strapping provides safety with its smooth, rounded edges that allow unparalleled grip, preventing slips and maintaining the full security of products. They are economical due to their inexpensive production costs and environment-friendly as they are 100% recyclable.
